I love watching movies, it is my go to thing no matter what my mood is. I watch movies every night, can’t sleep without watching atleast 2. And somedays when I don’t find any interesting movies I search on Google about actors who were the heores in my favourite movies. By the way, my favorite genre is Action and Comedy. I can watch movies based specifically on these 2 genres or mixture of these 2 with others genres. And Google gives me these list of biggest action heroes, biggest action stars, of 80’s, of 90’s etc. From there I pick an actor and search for his movie.
Now that I have started blogging, I thought why not make my own list. Other websites have top 10 or top 20 list but I would like to make my list a Top 5. So that I can explain every point in detail. And I am choosing the 80’s because at that time, the actors who used to do Action movies they were made of something else. Not only physically (because physically thier were at peak human condition) but also their personailty, their behaviour, the way they talked it was all so mind blowing to watch. It felt like they aren’t acting but they are those characters. Based on the reaction I get from this post, next time I will post about 90’s action stars. So feel free to share your opinion. Without further delay lets get started…..
Top 5 Action Stars in the 80’s Ranked:
5. Mel Gibson
I am keeping him at the last place because Mel Gibson is an actor rather than an action star. I love his acting but he doesn’t possess the necessary qualification to be at the higher postion in the list. First of all he is here because he starred in mostly two action movie series first Mad Max and second Lethal Weapon. None of which are my favourite. Back in the day he was good looking but he didn’t have the intimadating physique like the others stars. And even in the movies he got beat up a lot. Not a very good impression for an action star. One most imporant thing for an action hero in the 80’s was strong silent type. Gibson was nothing like that, if anything his acting was much more erratic and crazy.
4. Bruce Willis
Who does not know John McClane from Die Hard. I think Die Hard became more famous than any other movie series that started in the 80’s. And this move also established Willis as a legitimate action hero. Like Gibson, Willis is also more of an actor than an action star in my opinion. If you look at his profile you will agree with me. But he is above in the list because Willis may not had the physique of an action hero but he definitely had the personality, and you can feel it in his movies. I personally love his movie The Jackal where he played villain. Red movie series, Unbreakble, Pulp Fiction, Mercury Rising, 12 Monkeys, Armageddon are some of his other popular movies.
3. Steven Seagal
Seagal was a martial instructor trained in Aikido (7th dan rank) before he came an actor, he used to taught in a Japanese dojo. He is solely on the 3rd postion because no villain was able to beat him up in the movies. Seagal was like that invincible fighter whom no one can beat, still you watch his movies cause it is so entertaining to see him in action. He also did not have an intimadating physique but he was big and and his fighting style was really bad-ass. Most popular Seagal movies are Above the Law, The Glimmer man, the two Under Siege movies, Hard to Kill etc. My favourite is The Glimmer Man.
2. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Professional body builder turned actor, Schwarzenegger was among the top action stars in the 80s’. Even now he is considered one the best action hero of all time. I keep him in second position and not in first simply because I am biased towards the actor who is in the number 1 position. Otherwise Schwarzenegger is really a perfect action star. He had the personality, the big and muscular physique, everything expected from an action star. I enjoy most of his movies thoroughly. He became famous for his role in Termiantor seires as T-800. Beside the Terminator movie series he starred in Commando, Predator, Eraser, Conan the Barbarian, True Lies etc. Eraser is my favourite movie he starred in.
1. Sylvester Stallone
Anything and everything I say about him is not enough, so I will try to keep it short. Personally he has a big influence on my life. I am very much inspired by his life journey and he is the sole reason my interest grew on Action movies. If I talk about why he is number 1 on my list then first because of his physique, love it. He is also the reason I started working out. Second reason would be throughout his career he has mostly done action movies, sure he tried to attempt other genres but his profile is full of action movies. And those movies were not just about action, there were a little bit of storyline involved, which I should mention was written by Stallone himself. He is also a good screenplay writer. And he also had the look of a broken hero, who knows that the world is a dark place but he still fights to save the little bit of good that is left in the world.
Most of the world know him because of his Rambo and Rocky movies. But in my opinion his other movies like Cobra, Assassins, Demolition Man, The Specialist, Cliffhanger etc. are also very popular. I am not saying those movies were masterpieces but really loved seeing him in those movies. My all time favourite is Assassins.
Conclusion:
I want to conclude saying that this list is based on my personal opinion and if anyone disagrees with me that is completely fine. I have watched many Action Movies over the years and the experience that I gained from watching all those movies, I created this list based on that experience. Hope you enjoyed it. You can always tell me your opinion in the comment section.
