Tell me why do you get a degree?
To become knowledgeable or arrogant?
People who have a lot of qualifications or higher qualifications like PhD, master’s, etc. tend to look down on others. Their tones are usually rude and have arrogance attached to them. Like they know it all.
Of course, they know a lot but does that mean they can look down on others?
And this is not something that starts when we become an adult. It starts at an early age.
When I was in school, the first boy used to get all the attention and presence and others like me and many more were like nothing. And when I tried to talk to the guy, he ignored me half the time. I was a kid, so I found it weird.
Then when in college, I got the number one position I got arrogant. I developed the feeling that I am special, I achieved it after hard work while no one could. And when others praise and sweet talk mixed with my ego. It erupted the volcano.
But then someone made me realize that those who have lower grades than me are also special. Just because they are not number one, does not mean they should get treated harshly. Remove the position and we have a lot in common. I just isolate myself thinking I am number one.
For the record, I never showed any rude behavior. But through my attitude, behavior and tone I displayed a sense of superiority.
However, the realization made me understand this is just a position that will vanish after I leave college in a couple of years. Then I will become like everyone else.
And it stuck to me, I started noticing I am not the only one who does it. An owner treats the maid harshly, a boss humiliates the employees, and siblings have a cold war because of this.
Why?
Simply because someone possesses a higher degree!
Go back and try to realize why you get the degree in the first place.
It is a sign of your excellence, your hard work and your dedication to a field.
It is not an instrument to belittle others or to make you feel like you are better than everyone.
Because change the situation and the person next to you will become superior. And this I am speaking from experience. You can’t truly judge someone based on their educational qualification. Because many of us are not good in studies but excellent in other things.
I am not trying to teach you a lesson, because I myself still struggle with it. We both are in the same boat. It is just an advice from one to another, who share the same problem.
Hope you realize it and control it next time. And if you don’t have it, then congratulations you are really something!
Thank you for staying until the end!
