Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) is being a smashing hit at the box office. It was released on 26th July. So I thought this is a good time to make this list.

I have been a Deadpool fan since the first movie was released back in 2016. Especially because the person who plays that loud mouth superhero oh sorry he is super but no hero, Ryan Reynolds. I didn’t know about him before. But after the film I watched his other movies too. And I have to say pre deapool era his movies were medicore but post deadpool era his movies were funny and bearable to say the least. And for the record I liked him as Green Lantern too.

Now if I talk about Hugh Jackman then I have been following his Wolverine movies even beofore 2016. I was introduced to him from his 2013 movie The Wolverine. And honestly speaking because that was my first time watching a live action Wolverine movie. I was expecting his signature uniform, which he unfortunately didn’t wore. Finally thanks to Marvel studios and Ryan Reynolds it happend in this latest movie.

Below I have ranked all the solo Deadpool and Wolverine movies, that means no X-men movies. Personally X-men movies always bored me, I just used to watch them because of Wolverine. But I should mention after 2011’s X Men First Class, the standard of those movies had gotten better. But after Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, I don’t think those movies will continue anymore. And also after the failure of Dark Pheonix in the same year, the continuation of that franchise is uncertain.

Deadpool and Wolverine movies ranked:

Logan

Logan 2017

Released back in 2017, story and character wise Logan is a masterpiece atleast compared to other movies in its genre. But as a superhero action movie or more specifically as a Wolverine movie it was disappointing atleast to me. I was expecting more of an epic battle like the one happened in the Wolverine 2013 but this movie fell short on that expectation. Otherwise this is the highest grossing Wolverine movie and it got both critical and financial success. It was made on a budget of 127 million US dollars and grossed around 619.2 million US dollars.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Wolverine 2009

This movie is originally a part of the X Men universe as it says in the title. But the reason I like this movie is because not only does this movie tells the origin story of the Wolverine but also how he got his adamantium claws and lost his memories. Personally I love this movie becasue how good Hugh’s physique is in this movie. It might motivate you to workout if you are into fitness plus the action scene with agent Zero on the helicopter and Logan on the bike wearing the leather jacket is my personal favourite. One other reason is because this is the movie where we get to see Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson (human name of deadpool) for the first time. Made on a budget of 150 million US dollars it grossed 373.1 million US dollars in 2009.

Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 2018

Deadpool 2 which released two years after the first movie in 2018 had excelled in its action plus Deadpool was a crudely funny as ever. But I felt the storyline was boring, nothing new happened in this movie everything was same like the last movie. And becasue this type of conversations and jokes we had already heard in the first movie which made it entertaining. That is why when they applied the same thing in this movie, it did not work out. One new character was introduced in this movie called Cable played by Josh Brolin. And we also get to see the Juggernaut after the X Men Last Stand. Regardlessed it made 785.8 million US dollars at the box office on a budget of 110 million US dollars.

The Wolverine

The Wolverine 2013

The Wolverine 2013 is my favourite among the solo Wolverine movies. This movie had great action be it on the bullet train fight or the final fight. It was set up in Japan, one of my favourtie places and as it was mentioned in X Men Origins Wolverine the word ‘Wolverine’ comes from a japanese name, ‘Kuekuatsheu‘. It had everything that what we know about Japan is famous for, samurai, ninjas, the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and how Logan recovered from that blast etc. The budget of this movie was 120 crores US dollars and it earned 414.8 million US dollars globally. And also Hugh Jackman considers that in this movie he showcased his best physique.

Deadpool

Deadpool 2016

This movie was perfect for me mainly because I enjoyed the type of humor it used. Comedy wise this movie was a superhero masterpiece while the action of the movie was average compared to other superhero movies. But if we see this movie from an individual standpoint plus the type of character deadpool is then the action was really good. The story was average as it should be because it was telling the origin story of Deadpool and establishing him as a character. In 2016 made on a budget of only 58 million US dollars it earned 782.8 million US dollars worldwide. And also it was the highest grossing R rated movie at that time.

Conclusion:

There is a reason I did not include Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) here. And the reason is, I haven’t watched it yet. So unless I watch it, I can’t rank it. As I always say this rankings are based on my personal prefernece, how much I have enjoyed them, I rank them based on that. Regardless I can share some facts with you all. Deapool and Wolverine was made on a budget of 200 million US dollars. It has until today collected 824.2 million US dollars and counting. There is a very high chance it can gross 1 billion US dollars worldwide. As you have already know there are some cameos in the movie. I am not gonna take names but if you are excited to know who will appear then expect characters from late 90’s and early 2000’s superheros movies.
