When you come home after a rough day do you have people to ask you about your day? You also ask them about theirs! Then talk about it, both good and bad parts on the dinner table or in the drawing room. If yes, then you are a fortunate person.

I on the other hand, after coming from outside, put some chips in a bowl and connected my earbuds to my phone. Lie on my bed and start watching a sitcom. It does wonders for me.

For one I am not much of a talker and two I am not much of a talker because I am surrounded by judgemental people. Who only see my flaws in every situation. So why bother to discuss it at all then?

How it helps

Sitcoms help because it is a comedy and nothing can divert your mind more than other people’s problems. Which is a tragedy for them but comedy for me.

Another reason it helps is because the comedy is situational and funny situations can only be created in everyday life. Everyday life means we can connect with the characters’ emotional journey throughout the day.

And then I find that one guy with whom I can relate. That guy is facing the same problem that I faced today one way or the other. And how at the end of the episode his or her friends or family support him and they all laugh together.

It is scripted I know but it helps nonetheless.

These television characters taught me more about life than the people around me ever could!

Thank you for staying until the end!
