The debate between Money and Happiness does not have a clear answer. Some will say that, yes money can bring happiness, while others will say, no happiness does not depend on money.

Understanding Happiness:

You see there are various types of happiness. Some we get when we spend time with our loved ones, some from when we travel. Some from buying expensive, luxurious or branded things.

Happiness is different for everyone. A low income person who can’t meet their daily needs because of shortage of money, if suddenly met them by receiving some extra money that will make them happy. While a rich person who has almost everything the world has to offer will look for something more than the world has to offer. In short happiness varies from person to person.

But if you look closely you will notice, most of the time you can acquire some happiness in exchange of money.

What is Money?

Money is nothing but a simple paper. But the exchange value of this paper is immeasurable. There are many of this paper out in the world. Some of this papers are even more valuable than others like the U.S. Dollars, U.K. Pound Sterling, European Euro etc. People can have almost anything they want if the have a lot of these papers and are willing to exchange them.

Money brings Happiness:

As humans we have three basic needs Food Shelter and Healthcare. Three of these doesn’t cost that much and can be achieved with minimum income but the world is constantly changing and so the price of these three needs are growing too.

Cost of Food, Shelter and Healthcare is increasing, someone can still have them with a minimum exchange of money but that won’t benefit them much. Just street food or tap water isn’t enough that will cause problem for your health and if the issue is serious, you will need advance medical treatment, that means more money. So that means you need nutritious foods and purified water from store but that will cost a lot more.

We can’t live in a tent or under some shed, we need a hosue of atleast an apartment. But just buying an apartment isn’t enough, you need your shelter to be in a good neighbourhood and that has basic utilities so that you can feel safe and comfortable. After all we consider our home the safest place of all. For this you going to be required a lot more money than the minimum amount.

All of these solely depends on money and a very large amount of money. If you are sick you are sad, if you are starving you are sad, if you don’t have a place to live you are sad. That means you are sad only if you don’t have enough money. So your happiness directly depends on money.

Money and a sense of Freedom:

The three things that I mentioned above are basic human needs and one cannot survive without them. But there are a dozen other things a person can want and those only can be earned only through money. One of those things is freedom. As a child all of us wanted to fly, I bet some of us even tried it. Why? because flying means we aren’t bound by anything. The sky is a open space no obstructions unlike land where you will be blocked by building, vehicles, humans etc. Money in a sense gives you that freedom. You can do anything, go anywhere and be anyone.

Money Can’t Make You Happy in the Following Things:

Love and Loyalty

You can make people follow you by paying them but you can never genarate loyalty inside of them as it is an instictual response. Same goes of love, you can’t make someone fall in love with you by showering them with gifts and giving them first class treatement. As love is an emotional reponse. In both the cases others need to feel a connection with you for them to develope love and loyalty for you. And this connection can only be created through your own effort.

Time

Some say time is the most valuable thing. A self made rich man who spent more than half of his life building his wealth has only one regreat that he won’t be able to enjoy it because he doesn’t have enough time left on this earth. A middle class man blames his time for his shortcomings, while the reason is not pursuing his own calling.

Luck

Some will say Luck is nonsense while others say luck does exist. Luck is how some achieve success one after another with only few failures but others struggle their entire life to have one success. As a matter of fact making money also has to do with luck. But you can’t buy luck with money and no one knows how to have luck or how to make it.

Peace

Money can’t bring peace into your life. If you have a chaotic household or mind, money can’t solve that problem for you. Yes it can help you get away from all of it or seek the best help. But if you want to create peace for yourself you will have to be smart enough to know how to employ money to make that peace.

Character

Money can’t build your character. A character that others respect and admire, money can’t build it for you. You have to do it yourself and how that is also no one will teach you becuase all of us are different than one another.

Conclusion:

One of the interesting facts is when you enter the race of money-making, you forget your overall goal. And until the day you die, you chase after money, your only motive becomes having more money. During these times, you should remember the objective is not having more money but having the amount money that you need to fullfill all your dreams and desires.

I mean, what is the value of having money if you don’t use it for your own happiness, to invest it in your well-being, to collect various experiences and making memories, and to keep your loved ones safe and protected all the time. But when we are in the race we spent our entire lifetime chasing after money and not looking after what makes us happy. So never forget your ultimate goal which is to keep yourself happy and earn money according to that. In that way you won’t loose yourself and at old age you won’t have any regrets.
