Action is the most popular genre in the entertainment business. Regional or international regardless of the content everyone loves to watch action movies. Through 80’s and 90’s hollywood was popular for producing extraordianry action movies. Famous actors like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and later Jackie Chan, Tom Cruise became popular with action movies. Read more about action heros in here.

Now a days South Korea is making a name with its contents especially with their dark and gritty action movies. All of us are a fan of Japanese Anime. The most popular genre of anime Shounen, is based mainly on Action. Even Indian movie RRR made its name and gain worldwide populartiy with its action spectacles.

I personally became interested in action around 2016 when I learned hollywood is not only about superhero movies but there are others movies too and I gave this credit to Sylvester Stallone. Through his Rambo Franchise I was able to discover that. Since then till now my go to is Action of any kind, be it movies, series or anime. Right now I am at a stage where I have watched every action movie that Google suggests.

Below I will rank my favourite top 5 action movies. Now I have a dozen or more than that favourite movies in action. But I chose these 5 because once in every two or three months I watch them and they still amuse me with the way the action scenes were designed in these movies.

Top 5 Action Movies:

The Mummy

The Mummy is the first film out of three which released in 1999. The other two being The Mummy Returns and The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. More than its action which are a treat, I like the adventure aspect of this film. Through rivers and desert you reach Hamunaptra the city of the dead. This film used to come on each staturday on Cartoon Network when I was a kid. Since then I love this movie.

Made on a budget of 80 million this film made 416 million dollars at the worldwide box office. This success also paved the path to its sequel.

John Wick Chapter 2

In 2014 when the first John Wick film released no one really knew about the film called John Wick. But after the 4th film released in 2023, not only Keanu Reeves, who plays the legendary hitman John Wick but the director Chad Stahelski received an wide recognition. And John Wick became a significant part of pop culture. Most popularly because why he started killing again after retiring.

While the third and fourth chapters have significant action I would always put the 2nd chapter which released in 2017, ahead of them all. Especially for the shopping scene when Wick goes to shopping to prepare for the assassination. Other than that the mirror room fight in the climax the warehouse fight in the beginning and the tunnel fight during the interval are the most spectacular. The film grossed 174.3 million dollars worldwide on a budget of only 40 million dolllars.

Captain America the Winter Soldier

Most of marvel movies use visual effects and actors don’t have much to do but Captain America is an exception. He is not in a suit like Iron Man neither he is a god like Thor so he has to do most of his work by himself. And Chris Evans preapred for the work. While the first Captain America movie was average and third one was the mixture of real life and visaul effects action. The second one stands at the top.

Most memorable fight was when Captain America comes face to face with the Winter soldier, from guns to hand to hand combat, that sequence had it all. Other than that in the beginning when Cap sneak into the ship to rescue shield hostages. The non stop action moves that he displays is a treat. And I should mention this is the only film where most actors involved were doing most of their own stunts. Because all the central characters like Steve Rodgers aka Captain America and Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow don’t have any supernatural abilties.

Released in 2014, the film earned 714 million dollars at the worldwide box office opposing to a budget of 170 million dollars.

Mission Impossible Fallout

No doubt that Fallout had the best action in the Mission Impossible Franchise while each movie in the series had some type of epic scene this 6th part had tons of it. From the washroom fight to helicopter chase, it did action everywhere humans possibly can. My personal favourite is Cruise on the BMW R 9T dodgeing cops and driving through traffic then getting hit by a car. The cinematography was mind blowing in there.

Mission Impossible Fallout was made on a budget of 250 to 260 million dollars and released back in 2018. The film grossed around 791.1 million dollars, which made it the highest grossing film in the entire franchise.

No Time to Die

No Time to Die is the last film of Daniel Craig as Bond and it is his 5th Bond film and overall 25th bond film in the franchise. Other 4’s are Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre respectively. While many considers that Casino Royale isthe best bond action film, I think No Time to Die surpasses it. And most of the credit goes to its realistic yet visually stunning action scenes. My person favourite is the beginning block of Craig fighting goons on a bridge and second favourite is the forest shoot-out scene.

This film released in 2021 during covid 19 yet managed to earn 774 million dollars worldwide and became the third highest grossing bond film. Budget of the movie wasn’t specified due to many delays but various sources estimate it around 250 million to 301 million dollars.

These were my favourtie action films which I enjoy a lot while watching. But I would also like to mention while these are my favourite movies from the series, the others movies are also good.
